And so, the 2010 Pie Season begins in earnest. Have you been training?
If you’re already looking for ways to pace yourself over the next four weeks or so, consider this Chocolate-Pumpkin Tart recipe from Everyday Food. While it’s not exactly, uh, diet food, it is a more streamlined version of the traditional pumpkin pie and the combination of creamy pumpkin custard and chocolate cookie crust is sublime.
Just imagine how far I’ll go to rationalize my craving for desserts by the time Christmas rolls around!

Chocolate and pumpkin are a wonderful marriage. This recipe uses those fabulous little thin, crispy chocolate wafers that I adore. For a while I almost gave up finding them, but one day I spotted them in the baking aisle. My life changed forever.
Thanks T.W. for another great recipe using these wonderful chocolate wafers.
Why are those wafers so hard to find? I am being so bad this holiday and horrified my milk vendor in Union Square yesterday with my cream order (it's for the blog, right???!?!?!) This looks delish and a tart is smaller than a deep disher, less volume for all that lovely flavor... thanks for the recipe... excellent combo!
I love it when you bake. Now, if only you would ship....
Chocolate? Pumpkin? Uh Oh! I'm in trouble and it hasn't even started yet. No need to rationalize, T.W. tis the season:)
Thanks for sharing...
consider it considered - this is a great idea.
It just occurred to me that I have not had pumpkin with chocolate ever! This looks like a fabulous novel idea!
FABULOUS. Chocolate crust and pumpkin tart? Lead me to it. I love those chocolate wafers; luckily my store carries them.
Anyone wants diet desserts? Then they better stay away from my site for a while, 'cause I don't do lo-cal for the holidays!
I find it very difficult to resist the pairing of chocolate with pumpkin. This looks wonderful and I can imagine how good it actually tastes. I hope you and all with whom you celebrate have a wonderful holiday. Blessings...Mary
I too adore these wafers and used to hunt them down as if my life depended on it; lately I have tried to make them myself at home (they are getting pricey after all); I am going to have to show a leap of faith here, I would have never associated pumpkin and chocolate; but the recipe which I have studied carefully is easy and not too awfully rich.
Happy Turkey Day, T.W!!! Enjoy:)
