The Christmas Cook’s Lament

Tis the holiday season and the cupboard is bare,
The laundry overflows and I’ve nothing to wear.
Though it’s early December I’ve traveled too far,
And most of my suppers they come from a jar.
All I really want for Christmas is some time to watch “Glee,”
But, I’m hosting the dinner so shame on me!
I haven’t a game plan on what to prepare,
It’s shortcuts I’ll need, so purists beware!
Boxed cake mix, bagged salad and Lipton Onion Dip will help,
If Saint Nick finds out, he is certain to yelp!
I pray dear reader you’ll not blow the whistle, though,
We should all just relax and enjoy the mistletoe!
So just pour a cocktail and judge me not,
When the menu is ready, I’ll be back on the spot!

Very clever. Provide lots of wine and garnish, garnish, garnish. No one will be the wiser.

I know how you feel...I'm the same way this time of the year. I'm having my annual Christmas party in less than two weeks. I think we will survive though if we are clever.

...and to think I thought prose was for forte. The dinner will be fine, you'll have a wonderful time. Take care now. Blessings...Mary

I have used this old boy scout motto most of my adult life: "Keep it simple, make it fun!"
