Lately, I’ve been consulting “The Flavor Bible” by Karen Page and Andrew Dornenburg to better understand harmonious flavor combinations and affinities. The encyclopedic volume lists pages of optimum flavor matches. There it is in black and white. Ricotta cheese and strawberries are one perfect marriage.
Talk about a light and stylish dessert! Pearly-white goat cheese ricotta is spread on golden slices of semolina bread and then dressed with a layer of ripe, succulent, sliced strawberries. That’s it! Pair it with a glass of chilled ice wine or Moscato D’Asti for a magical summer treat!

I'm always looking for easy desserts, given that my baking skills are nonexistent! This looks perfect for summer. Now I have to find (or make?) some fluffy ricotta cheese.
ReplyDeletewhat a perfect dessert, a few drops of old balsamic and I am set....well done
ReplyDeleteYum! I've never heard of ricotta goat cheese. That sounds absolutely divine. And paired with those strawberries?! Heavenly!
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed a gread summer treat!
ReplyDeletejust one word .... YUM ! :)
ReplyDeleteRicotta cheese and strawberries were made for each other, indeed. Cheese blintzes and strawberries are one of my weaknesses. I usually pair goat cheese with figs, balsamic and even sun-dried tomatoes. However, this is a new combo that intrigues me.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out the book you recommended.

TW,
ReplyDeletericotta goat cheese! yum!
I love crostini and usually use ricotta as a base for grilled vegetables, etc.
I love that you went straight to the farm!
oh, this looks so delicious! I can't wait to try this one out~
ReplyDeleteSuperb! Simply elegant...
ReplyDeleteYour exquisite posts about the essence of all cheeses have given me a new appreciation for their virtues. I really do believe I will attempt to make my own someday and I have you to thank, TW.
mmmm... interesting pairing. I just bought some goat cheese ricotta, i'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYummo...I just made my first batch of ricotta from the whey left over from making goat's cheese and was looking for a fun dessert for my honey's bday dinner...I think I might leave out the crostini and just pile some berries on top of a scoop of cheese...what do we think? Pity that strawberry season is over though :(
