It was divine. A whole bag was less than 4 dollars and they were quite good. Then whoosh, they were gone.

I love them, truly do but they are a royal pain to work with and enough for 4 people means bags of beans and hours of work. They make a great soup puree as well. To get a nice size portion yield for a few you may need to throw a fava paty with some chianti! One day, we can do it, the day after, better use frozen ones. Your hummus seem very good. My mother make fava grilled, with oil and salt. We use to eat them for aperitive, like peanuts.Axelle the french cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13223450605517992278noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30577630.post-87779104503495382552013-08-18T23:23:53.542-04:002013-08-18T23:23:53.542-04:00Dear T.W., That is time consuming but with delicio...Dear T.W., That is time consuming but with delicious results and healthy too. I'm so proud of you for reaping the rewards of the delectable fava bean.

I've actually done the ritual one, two, three or more times in my early life and the only encouragement I can remember is that glass of Chianti by my side. (my grandmother and us kids shelled a whole lotta beans through the years and wine was always present:)

I don't particularly care for fava beans but I think it's a texture thing. I have a feeling as a hummus, I would most likely enjoy them:) (Cumin also helps:)

Thank you so much for sharing, T.W...~~louise~~https://www.blogger.com/profile/07335196139849995706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30577630.post-80992247665401057602013-08-18T15:45:06.550-04:002013-08-18T15:45:06.550-04:00These look really wonderful! These look really wonderful!Gloria Bakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03055543111865966546noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30577630.post-4697362090775655322013-08-18T06:43:48.389-04:002013-08-18T06:43:48.389-04:00If you love fava beans as much as I do, then you w...If you love fava beans as much as I do, then you will love this recipe too: http://sophiesfoodiefiles.wordpress.com/2010/05/18/duo-of-fresh-fava-bean-spread-open-smoked-salmon-sandwich-sort-of-guacamole-open-smoked-salmon-sandwich-topped-with-home-grown-garden-cress/

I love this tasty easy peasy recipe too! :) Yummmm!Sophies Foodie Fileshttp://www.sophiesfoodiefiles.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30577630.post-63108723997918764782013-08-18T06:40:46.487-04:002013-08-18T06:40:46.487-04:00Beautiful as those farm-fresh beans are, I admit I...Beautiful as those farm-fresh beans are, I admit I'd opt for the lazier route: buying ready-to-cook beans from my local "gourmet" market.
