I've had fun experimenting with different forms of acid -- lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar.Juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18207184256646710317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30577630.post-994020257293106772009-05-17T15:32:00.000-04:002009-05-17T15:32:00.000-04:00You picked the perfect garnish of sun-dried tomato...You picked the perfect garnish of sun-dried tomatoes-- my personal favorite. I've never tried it, so I don't know the answer. There is something satisfying about sitting down to a completely homemade meal: bread, sun-dried tomatoes (I'd use my slow-roasted tomatoes with garlic and herbs that I make every summer and stash in the freezer), and the cheese. Although I agree with you, it's alot of effort and not much yield, there's nothing like the satisfaction of knowing it didn't come from a plastic container. For myself I found the lemon flavor to linger a bit much for certain usages, and am wondering if vinegar would be a more neutral choice.~I AM Love~*https://www.blogger.com/profile/16625041992610335117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30577630.post-18289697723482588242009-05-17T10:30:00.000-04:002009-05-17T10:30:00.000-04:00nice to go on this journey with you. I gave up on explaining living in the "boondocks" or as my aunts from Brooklyn use to say "God's Country" a long time ago. I wouldn't mind having a cow and I do miss the Rhode Island reds I once had who ate sunflower seeds out of the palm of my hand at my front door in West Islip!

I had no idea Ricotta could be made at home with just a bit of patience. I was thinking of something to cook up with the grandkids during my visit to Idaho. I wonder? Oh how I adore ricotta, I can't even imagine how refreshing yours must taste. I would be tempted to make something extravagant but I think like you say, simple is best for this occasion.
